This first session certainly gives one a lot to think about and consider for their teaching in the near future. The boundaries for education and learning have already changed and are continuing to change at a very fast pace. In order to keep up with our changing world we as teachers need to ourselves be aware of what is available and how to best use it. By being connected to people that know how to do what it is that we are trying to do and to create a community (technology network) for ourselves we can become a better prepared teacher.
Making a technology network for our selves can be accomplished several ways. First a network can be started by comparing and sharing ideas with others directly at your workplace, in your district, or state that have similar positions as you. Also ones technology network can be expanded by taking classes, being part of an online discussions and participating in classes such as the k12onlineconferece.
My first goal after this session will be to set up an edublog with links and RSS feed from educational bulletin boards. By developing and exploring options available for this edublog I will start to develop an online community for myself. A second goal is to investigate how blogging can be used and has been practiced with elementary school aged students. This can be a valuable tool for students in our school to use their online and writing skills to talk safely with other students from their neighborhood and around the world.

I enjoyed reading your response to David Warlick’s Pre-Conference session for K12 Online. I’m doing the conference as a course as well. Another great way to expand your “network” is to use Twitter. I’m marsenault on Twitter. Feel free to follow me there and I’d like to follow your tweets as well. Do you have a Twitter account?
